Team Release Kidd Finishes 12th in Lucas Oil 200
Michael Kidd and his Kidd Tire/The Works racing team finished 12th in the Lucas Oil 200 presented by Touchstone Energy at the historic Salem Speedway. The 12th place finish was Kidd’s second consecutive top 20 finish and vaults him into 24th position in the Sears Auto Center Northern Division.
Salem Speedway would be a test for the Kidd Tire/The Works driver as an ill-handling car had Kidd working overtime at the physical .555 mile high banked oval. “Our car was very tight on corner exit. I tried different lines and we made adjustments every chance we could but we just couldn’t tune the car the way I wanted it” said Kidd afterwards, “I had high hopes for this race. I love this track, it’s unrelenting-constantly challenging your concentration, skill and nerve. I just missed the setup, it happens sometimes.”
Kidd pitted for tires early with most of the leaders, only taking two left sides as tire wear was a non-issue. “The guys had a good stop. I think they had a lug nut jam on the rear, but even with that small problem they got me out in quick order” said Kidd about the pit stop. Kidd would pit several more times throughout the 200 lap race for adjustments. “We adjusted the track bar and took a bunch of wedge out of it but neither adjustment helped the car enough. I think I selected the wrong springs for the front of the car-that or something mechanically was bound up. We’ll work hard at the shop and dissect what went wrong and get it fixed in for the next high bank race at Bristol” said Kidd.
Kidd and his Kidd Tire/The Works Team will be back in action, July 12th at Kidd’s home track of Motor Mile Speedway for the Kmart 250.
